It's difficult to find reasons at the fact that some countries chose to circulate on the left side besides the right side. Various historic explanations were advanced, but generally without any proof.

English people drive on the left Coz' in the middle age, with your sword on your left side (so you can easilly grab it with your right hand), when you face another rider in fron of you, the way you pass him is on the left so both your swords don't bump each others. It's been kept in the culture through ages and applied as a rule for driving.
